Performance Dress
I thought that my time to post this look had passed, but New England being how it is, it decided to get cold on us again. So, here you have a great transitional look that can work on days like we've had this week, that just don't seem to want to warm up.
Also, confession time....I took these photos over a year ago! I basically ran into the problem that I thought I was going to run into now, and run out of time to post them when they would be seasonally appropriate. So, now I am posting the photos very, very late, but there is another message that can come from this. I have said it before, and I will continue to talk about the fact that it is so important to build a wardrobe that works for you, with pieces that can take you from season to season. This look is the epitome of that! I may have taken these photos in April of 2017, but I still wear all of the pieces in this look today. In fact, I literally wore this denim jacket today, the pants last week, and the shoes this past weekend!
With that being said, knowing which pieces are the best to invest in so that they make it for the long haul can definitely be difficult sometimes. I have always found that the main things to look for when purchasing clothes is the quality of the fabrics, the fit, and the overall durability of the item. For instance, you know that a denim jacket will last you for forever! The one I am wearing I have had since early college. Another tip to make your clothes and shoes last is to take good care of them! Bring your shoes to the cobbler, your dry clean only clothes to the dry cleaners, and follow the washing instructions on your clothes.
Ok, enough about all of that. The main item I wanted to talk about with this week's post is the pants. You may recognize them from a post last year that I did with Ministry of Supply. These pants are amazing! I wear them all of the time, and they are so comfortable to the point where I don't feel like I am wearing work clothes at all. They are a bit on the pricey side as far as work pants go, but honestly you will get so much wear out of them, that the price is entirely justifiable. In even better news, the team over at Ministry of Supply recently came out with a new style of pant that looks to have an even better fit. The pair that I have were a bit long on me, so I got them tailored. The new pair are already cropped, so no tailor will be necessary!
I have linked both pairs of pants below, as well as some other similar pieces for the rest of the look. Keep scrolling to check it out!
